In a tragic incident at Charles University in Prague, a student-turned-gunman claimed the lives of 15 individuals. The police reported 24 serious injuries resulting from the assailant's attack at the heart of the Czech capital. The shooter met his demise during the incident. An email dispatched to faculty and students in the department cautioned about the presence of a gunman in one of its structures and directed staff to stay in place.
Police have provided no details regarding the victims or the circumstances surrounding Thursday's gunfire in Prague. The student responsible for the attack hailed from a village near Prague, and tragically, his father was discovered dead earlier on the same Thursday.
Bohuslav Svoboda, the mayor of Prague, conveyed a sense of disbelief, stating, "We always thought that this was a thing that did not concern us. Now it turns out that, unfortunately, our world is also changing, and the problem of the individual shooter is emerging here as well."
